013013: Tenacious Tuesday

It has been awhile since I posted something up, and I apologize for that matter. I have been swamped with school work and extra curriculums, but I'm pushing through! Much thanks to those who checks this blog frequently, and I find it so cute. Tehee :)

The weather has been surprisingly warm, and I'm really digging it especially because I get to fulfill my ten cents numbero 4--mix-matching winter and summer clothes! As much as I don't want to admit it, I have way too many clothes and my closet is rather small...my folded clothes are dispersed all over my room. I tell myself to separate and store clothes that don't fit the current season to make space; however, I fail to separate anything because all clothes work for any season!

Summer dress+fall sweater+winter toggle coat=<3 My favorite trend as of now is definitely the layering of sweaters. I typically don't layer it with dresses, but I like how it makes the outfit casual, but a wee bit fancy; it is also very versatile!
GUESS plaid dress--Auntie's closet: FREE
Aeropostale white sweater--Garage Sale: $0.25
Black Leggings--Ross: $5
Old Navy toggle coat--Old Navy: $10 (It was on clearance from about $40!)
Coach brown replica handbag--Garage Sale: $2
Brown boots--Ross: $24 (It is a wee bit pricy compared to my usual buys, but def worth it for PPW)
Total: $41.25, Price Per Wear (PPW): ~$6

My ten cents #4: LAYER LAYER LAYER and MIX MATCH YA SEASONAL CLOTHES TOGETHER! Get the most out of your clothes by using it all year round. Not only does it lower your PPW, but it also gives depth to your wardrobe and style. Adding or taking away a garment or a piece of accessory really makes a difference in the way you express yourself. Dressing up or down never got so easy!
**Again, thank you so much for checking this blog out. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to message or comment below. I love getting feedback and constructive criticism. Also, if you have any tips for me about being thrifty, please let me know! <3

012313: Wimpy Wednesday

Wimpy Wednesday is right; I never felt so weak. This sickness is killing me alive, but surprisingly, I'm actually in a good mood, so I'm motivated to post something today; it's probably because my parents are extra caring today. :) Anywho, with today's rain, I surely did not wear this outfit. Honestly, I wanted to put an outfit together utilizing my sleep-sweater because 1) I'm lazy and 2) it's part of my ten cents numbero 3! I would totally wear this though. This sweater is actually a hand-me-down from my little brother!

Oh, and an extra note, when you feel like your outfit is a little bland, add some bling! I love love love accessories; they are so versatile and extremely cheap to find.

Arizona denim vest--Garage Sale: $1
Ralph Lauren navy sweater--Little Brother's closet: FREE
Gap white shorts--Ecothrift: ~$4 (It was brand new with a tag, so it was $15 originally; however it was on the 75% off color tag--wooot!)
Dolce & Gabbana grey replica handbag--Garage Sale: ~$3-5
Gap navy oxfords--Gap Outlet: $4
Necklace--Garage Sale: $1.25
Total: ~$15, Price Per Wear (PPW): ~$4

My ten cents #3: SEIZE THEM HAND-ME-DOWNS REGARDLESS OF GENDER, SIZE, AND ETC. The beautiful thing about clothing is that they are made out of fabric. If the garment is too big--resize! If the garment is too small--take the scraps and make something new with it such as a scarf. If worse comes to worst, preserve the buttons! Ultimately, my advice is to reuse and recycle. Oh, also...ladies, check out the boys/men sections when shopping; that's where the hidden gems are!

012113: Mean Monday

I caught something ugly this weekend, and now I feel super sick. That's just fantastic with my first midterm coming up this Friday. What do I do when I'm sick? Lay around in sweats? Oh no, sick days call for pencil skirts! One thing I can fake well is being confident; I do it so well that I believe it. Pencil skirts scream out confidence; it gives a woman's body so much structure. In the spirit of being sick, I make myself feel good by looking good.

Ladies and gents, pattern is your best friend! I'm digging the geometric look of not only the structure of the garments, but also the patterns. I love what the simple checkered skirt is doing--it looks so bazaar, just like how my body is feeling inside right now...eek.
Collar button up vest--Ecothrift: $1
Jones New York patterned sweater--Garage Sale: $1
Black and White checkered skirt--Momma's closet: FREE
Opaque black leggings--Walmart: $5
Coach ivory white handbag--Garage Sale: $10
Nine West black wedges--Garage Sale: $1
Total: $18, Price Per Wear (PPW): ~$4

My ten cents #2: MIX MATCHING IS OKAY! I used to be under the impression that you can only have either a patterned top with a solid bottom or vice versa. As long as the patterns are not fighting with each other, then the look should be fine. Also, MIX MATCH NEW AND OLD CLOTHES. Fashion trend comes and goes, and then comes back. The old is the new-new! (if that even makes sense)

011813: Fancy Friday

My favorite day of the week is hands-down, Friday!
In spirit of Fancy Friday, I whipped up this beauty.

I found this baby in my mother's closet, and you have no idea how thrilled I was when I saw it. I have been searching for a stripe shirt similar to the one Louis Tomlinson from One Direction (my favorite band!) always wears. I know they are pretty common, but I am not ready to spurge like $20 on them. What I like most about this shirt is that it was my mom's shirt, so it has some sentimental value to it.

  Finity Stripe Shirt--Momma's closet: FREE
Deep purple Versace Jeans--Aunt's closet (hand-me-down): FREE
Connie Wingtip Oxford Heels--Ecothrift: $10
Dooney & Bourke Handbag--Garage Sale: $15
Total: $25, Price Per Wear (PPW): ~$6

My ten cents #1: NEVER SACRIFICE A FORTUNE FOR FASHION AND VICE VERSA. I am here to tell you that you can have it both ways!
