How I Wear It: Holiday Lookbook

Hello my loves! If you are in need of some last minute holiday outfits inspo, then I totally gotchu! One of my favorite things about the holiday season is that I have an excuse to flaunt a fancy schmancy outfit that has been tucked away in my closet for some time. I rarely buy new clothes for the holiday season because I like to put my PPW to use! With that being said, I'm sure that you can find the perfect holiday outfit with your pre-existing wardrobe with a bit of faith and a lot of imagination. I hope this post helps you stimulate some ideas!

For outfit #1, I went with the oh so obvious red ensemble. This is probably the easiest way to dress up for the holidays. I absolutely adore lace, so naturally, I wore a red lace maxi dress that I bought from Ross for $15. Since the dress has a nude lining, I paired it up with my nude Steve Madden heels that I found on thredUP.

For outfit #2, I went with a classic LBD. If you are not a huge fan of color like yours truly, then you cannot go wrong with an all black number. I wore a very simple Bebe black dress with a darling sweetheart neckline covered with mesh. It also has an open back, which is always a good thing in my books! I always get my PPW with LBDs because a bit of accessorizing goes a long way - let it be a statement necklace, different hairstyle, or in this case, Kimchi Blue toe-capped wedges from Urban Outfitters.

For outfit #3, I went with a two piece ensemble just in case you're not as obsessed with a one piece look as I am. Here, I wore a laced-up crop top from Windsor and a pair of high-waisted, flare bottoms that I picked up from a garage sale for a quarter. Lastly, I wore my Forever 21 heels for some much needed help in the height department.

My Ten Cents #48: Again, I highly encourage you all to go on a mini treasure hunt within your closest; you may find a gem...just in time for the holidays!

Collaboration + How I Wear It: Fall Lookbook (1 Dress - 3 Ways)

Hello my loves! I am so glad to be writing this post because I told myself that I wouldn't write it until I was done with midterms. Needless to say, I'm finally done with midterm week uno!

To celebrate, I wanted to share a set of photos from a relatively recent collaboration with my friend, Kenny N. We went for a fall-themed photoshoot, so I pulled out my tall laced-up boots, classic sheer button up, and minimalistic shift dress for the following looks. Fall is all about layering! (Yasss to PPW!) Early mornings and late nights are usually chilly, whereas the afternoons are relatively warm.

For the first look above, keeping the dynamic weather in mind, I like to show a tasteful amount of skin by balancing between my Forever 21's shift dress and Naturalizer's tall laced-up boots. For layering purposes, I threw on my F21's sheer button up and Line and Dot's textured bomber jacket that I got from Threadsence. Lastly, to finish off the look, I wore my Steve Madden's crossbody.

For my second look, I replaced my bomber jacket with my "Diem" sweater that I got from F21 for a more casual look. I'm totally feeling the "school girl" vibes with this get up.

Lastly, for an even more casual look, I took off my sweater and tied it around my waist. It's that easy to switch up a look!

I apologize for the short commentary, but hey, a picture is worth a thousand words. Thanks to my talented photographer friend, Kenny, here's roughly six thousand words! :P

My Ten Cents #47: When layering for fall, play with different lengths, textures, and colors. Then, pair your look with a bold set of lips and you're good to go! Happy fall, y'all!

How I Wear It + Review: Maybelline VoxBox

Hello again! Today, I am here with another VoxBox review, courtesy of Influenster. Thank you so much for the opportunity, Influenster! I didn't expect to be chosen for another one so soon. Unlike the other VoxBox review, I was only given one product this time around and I was asked to take Maybelline's 3 weeks #betterskinchallenge with its Superstay Better Skin™ Foundation. If you have been following me on Instagram (@diemberly), then you would have seen weekly updates of the challenge. Since I received this product complimentary for testing purposes, I will compare and contrast it with other foundations that I have used in the past.

"Maybelline Superstay Better Skin™ Foundation for an all-day flawless coverage now and better-looking skin in 3 weeks. The foundation reduces the appearance of spots, dullness, and unevenness and gives you a brighter, more even, and stress-free skin. With the antioxidant power of Actyl-C, a more durable form of vitamin C. Available in 12 shades."

When it comes to buying or trying a new foundation, I judge it based on the following criteria: shade, texture, coverage, and packaging.

SHADE: As you can see, I was given the foundation in the shade, "Classic Ivory." Surprisingly, the shade matched me really well! I often struggle with that factor when it comes to trying new foundations. In addition, at least in my experience, this particular foundation does not oxidize! I had a really bad experience with oxidizing foundation when I used Revlon's ColorStay Foundation, which made me look like an oompa loompa. It was not a pretty look. Luckily, my shade of Maybelline's Superstay Better Skin™ Foundation stayed consistent through out my busy days.

TEXTURE: Maybelline's Superstay Better Skin™ Foundation is a liquid foundation, but the texture/consistency is definitely on the thicker end of the spectrum. Personally, I am not a fan of thick foundation because it usually feels heavy on my face and it usually clogs my pores. It is a bit comparable to Make Up For Ever's HD Foundation, although MUFE is less dense. For that reason, I don't like either foundations very much. I am more of an Urban Decay's Naked Skin and Estee Lauder's Double Wear Foundation type of gal.

COVERAGE: I would say the coverage is medium, and unfortunately, that's not enough for me and my acne-prone skin. For the challenge, I had to apply 2 layers of foundation on top of CoverFX's Blemish Treatment Concealer. It's relatively buildable with the help of a buffing brush and the Beauty Blender. If your skin isn't acne-prone, then the coverage is pretty amazing for a drugstore product.

PACKAGING: I love foundations that come equipped with a pump, so Maybelline's Superstay Better Skin™ Foundation did a great job with packaging! Also, its simplicity makes it practical, which I'm totally okay with. I used to wear Maybelline's FitMe Foundation and its packaging was one of its flaws.

Now, I usually do not judge foundations on their repair mechanisms, but because Maybelline's Superstay Better Skin™ Foundation claims to reduce the appearance of spots, dullness, and unevenness,  I will say that I did not see a difference in my skin. I have severe acne, so it takes a lot for my skin to clear up. For that reason, I am not surprised that I did not see a major difference in my skin's condition. Furthermore, I wear and use a lot of products on my face, so I cannot pin point a specific product for its contribution because the result of my skin is due to the interaction of all my products. If I were to redo the challenge, then I would solely use Maybelline's Superstay Better Skin™ Foundation over a span of 3 weeks to conclude an accurate review of its claims.

Overall thoughts (+ My Ten Cents #46): Maybelline's Superstay Better Skin™ Foundation is a great drugstore foundation if you are looking for a medium coverage foundation with a thick consistency. Unfortunately, because my acne-prone skin is high maintenance, I need a full coverage foundation, which this particular foundation did not deliver. Everyone's skin is different, so don't fret if you cannot find your "holy grail" foundation. I am still looking for mine. Be consciously aware of ingredients in make-up products, but also be open-minded to different options. You may be surprised!

How I Wear It + DIY: Eyebrows Tutorial

FINALLY! I know. This post has been in the works since the request. To the dear person who requested this tutorial, I am so so sorry for taking a million years to write this. Trust me, I've been writing many drafts of this particular post. Thank you so much for not giving up on me. I will do my very best to be as detailed as possible with this written tutorial.

If you haven't checked out my eyebrows tutorial clip, then I suggest you watch it here. Fair warning, I am known to have a RBF. :P

First things first, before applying any make-up product, I highly recommend you to get your eyebrows groomed. You can get them waxed or threaded; it doesn't really matter. Once you get them groomed, the process of filling in your brows becomes easier as your natural brows act as a template. Although my ends are missing, I still get my brows threaded every 2-3 weeks and I maintain them daily to keep them clean. Your natural brows, even if they are lacking, are a great guide to transition from natural to drawn on brows.

To achieve this look, you only need 4 items: NYX Cosmetics' microbrow pencil, ELF Cosmetics' eyebrow kit, foundation or concealer of your choice, and angled brush of your choice. That is all.
  1. Using the NYX Cosmetic's microbrow pencil, brush out your brow hair in its natural direction with the spoolie end.
    • I love this step because it helps keep my brows clean. After I brush out my brow hair in its natural direction, I am able to trim off any strands that are too long.
  2. Using the NYX Cosmetic's microbrow pencil, use the other end to trace out/outline your desired eyebrow shape using your natural brows as a template.
    • I use the microbrow pencil in the color, Black.
    • The NYX Cosmetic's microbrow pencil is my holy grail. I love the consistency of the product and how it is twistable. It's a great dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills' Brow Wiz.
    • Since my ends are completely missing and they won't grow back, I also fill in my ends with the NYX Cosmetics' microbrow pencil to increase their pigmentation.
  3. Next, using the ELF Cosmetics' eyebrow kit, apply a conservative amount of eyebrow gel/pomade with the provided angled brush to fill in the outline.
    • I use the ELF Cosmetics' eyebrow kit in the shade, light.
    • You should start from the end and work your way up to create the gradient effect since the brush is most concentrated at the beginning of application. We do not want the sharpie look, although I am guilty for rocking that look when I first started doing my eyebrows.
    • Since my ends are missing and I have to fill them in with the NYX Cosmetics' microbrow pencil, I blend in the eyebrow gel/pomade to maintain a consistent color.
  4. Pump out a small amount of foundation or concealer of your choice on the palm of your hand.
    • My foundation of choice is Urban Decay's Naked Skin in the shade, 4.0.
    • I recommend a foundation or concealer with a light consistency because it will glide along the eyebrows better.
  5. Using the angled brush of your choice, apply foundation or concealer of your choice along the drawn on brows.
    • My angled brush of choice is Ecotools' Angled Eyeliner Brush, which came with the brush set.
    • This step is crucial to achieve the "eyebrows #onpoint or #onfleek"  look. Before this step, the applications of the NYX Cosmetics' microbrow pencil and ELF Cosmetics' eyebrow kit do not need to be precise.
    • After cleaning up your eyebrows shape with this step, use your pinky to blend out the harsh foundation or concealer line between your eyebrows and the rest of your face.
  6. Using the NYX Cosmetic's microbrow pencil, brush your brow hair with the spoolie end to blend out the products.
Tada!
My Ten Cents #45: Keep in mind, like most things, this takes a lot of practice. I mean, I've been doing this for about a year with a ton of trials and errors. In fact, I am still learning and tweaking my eyebrows shape. Eyebrows do wonder as they frame your face, so a little eyebrows-loving is recommend but definitely not necessary!

How I Wear It: Bodysuits

The answer is confidence. That is how I wear bodysuits. Bodysuits make me vulnerable as they highlight both flattering and unflattering parts of my body. I feel completely transparent in bodysuits. Ironically, I am the most confident when I am vulnerable because that is when I feel free.

Initially, I didn't plan on writing a post about this particular outfit because, as you can see, it's quite risqué. Some may say that I look like I'm trying too hard to gain attention. Some may say that I look like I'm insecure. Some may say that I look like I'm asking for "it." And for those reasons, I am writing this post to address those judgmental looks that I get when I wear bodysuits.

First of all, believe it or not, I am not trying to gain attention with this outfit from anyone but myself. I am not seeking for compliments with this outfit because there is no need for compliments when I am already complimenting myself. I feel beautiful in bodysuits. They hug me in all of the right places. They tuck in my muffin top. They help me channel my sultry side that I didn't even know existed in the first place. I feel beautiful in bodysuits. I rarely feel that way about myself, so I take full advantage of that feeling when it happens. I wear bodysuits to gain my own attention.

On the contrary to what people may generally think about those who wear risqué clothes, the act actually requires one to be as secure with one's body as possible. I mean, I am exposing my whole body's silhouette when I wear bodysuits, and that requires me to use every ounce of security in my body to own it. And once I own it, the confidence just oozes out of me and that feeling is liberating, especially for a timid gal like myself.

Lastly, I am asking for nothing with this outfit... just like any outfit that I wear. That is because not everything is about [you]. Everything that I wear is for myself as I use clothing to express myself. It is not a subliminal message or an invitation of any sort made out to [you]. It's my body. It's my canvas. It's my being. I don't understand why people feel like they have the right to tell me what to do/wear with MY body, MY canvas, and MY being.

I was watching "Never Been Kissed" the other day, and the script at this scene really hit me:

"All the world´s a stage,...and all the men and women, merely players." Does anyone know what Shakespeare meant by that? Anyone? It´s about disguise. About playing a part. And that´s the theme of "As You Like It." Now, does anyone know where we can see this?

Well, Rosalind disguises herself as a man,...and then she escapes into the forest.

Right. And it´s when she´s in costume...that she can finally express her love for Orlando. See, the point Shakespeare is trying to make...is that when we're in disguise, we feel freer. We do things we wouldn´t do in ordinary life. See, disguise changes all the rules.

I disguise myself as a sultry and confident person when I wear bodysuits, but ironically, that is when I am the most exposed and vulnerable. That is also when I feel the most free.

Cut-Out Bodysuit--Windsor: ~$37
Forever 21 Maxi Skirt--F21: $10
Total: $37, PPW (Price Per Wear): ~$15

My Ten Cents #44: Don't you dare feel guilty for looking and feeling beautiful. You have every right to feel like so.

080415: Tomboyish Tuesday

Hello loves! Oh my, it has been 2 years since I posted a "OOTD" post; it goes to show how much this blog has evolved. As much as I love doing reviews and "How I Wear It" posts, I decided to go back to my roots and post this bad boy up with a full on commentary.

You would think that I have established my personal sense of style after all of these years of blogging about fashion as a self-proclaimed fashionista, but I am nowhere close to narrowing down my sense of style. In fact, my style changes on a daily basis, depending on what I want to portray for the day. I literally play dress up every day with my clothes, and that is why I have a lot of it. Yesterday, being Tuesday, I wanted to play with my tomboyish side. I am a girly girl, but I think I know a thing or two about boys given that I grew up with two brothers.

One of my fashion guilty pleasures is dressing up androgynously. I love men fashion, so I like to incorporate a piece of article that is inspired by menswear. With this look, I wore my newly favorite: Forever 21 pointed faux leather loafers. They are casual enough to wear with a pair of skinny or boyfriend jeans (with the latter emphasizing the tomboyish factor), but they are fancy enough to wear with my beloved UNIF pleather overall dress.

As for the rest of the outfit, I wanted to go for a minimalistic look because I was on the go yesterday. I threw on my "Sad But Rad" tee that I got from Wear Your Label and tied a small knot to tease a tasteful amount of midriff. This tee is probably the most expensive shirt that I own, but that's because I fully support the brand and its philosophy of self-care. I highly recommend you all to check it out! In addition to the top, I slipped into my favorite light wash jeans that I got from Crossroads Trading & Co. Lastly, to tie the outfit together, I wore my Coach vintage leather crossbody and hamsa choker that I got from Hot Topic as black accents to match the shoes.

I guess my sense of style is a bit of girliness with a splash of tomboyish and a sprinkle of grunge and a lot of self-care/love.
"Sad But Rad" Tee--Wear Your Label: $35.80
Forever 21 Ripped Skinny Jeans--Crossroads Trading & Co.: $8
Forever 21 Pointed Faux Leather Loafer--F21: $12
Coach Vintage Leather Crossbody--Garage Sale: $2
Hamsa Choker--Hot Topic: $6
Total: $63.80, Price Per Wear (PPW): ~$7.00

My Ten Cents #43: Life is too short to wear boring clothes, so play dress up with me!

My Two Cents: You Look Disgusting

Yesterday, I came across a very disturbing trend on Instagram that I couldn't fathom with. Participants of the #dontjudgechallenge posted videos of themselves with exaggerated "ugly" features to only make a flawless transformation. These features included but definitely not limited to drawn-on unibrow, acne, and prescription glasses. It was meant to bring awareness to body image/body shaming, but I saw it as a form of bullying through mockery and as you can see, I am taking it personally.

I have mentioned before that I was bullied when I was younger for these "ugly" features, and I am still struggling with them. Lets start with the "ugly" unibrow. I had a bushy unibrow growing up. I didn't think twice about it until people started to point it out. I got the casual "caterpillar" comment. I laughed it off, but that single word did hurt. I still don't understand why people care so much about how I look when it didn't have and still has no effect on them. Body shaming got the best of me and I got my eyebrows waxed in my freshman year of high school. I became infatuated with keeping them in shape that I eventually over-plucked them on accident. Needless to say, the ends of my eyebrows are never coming back, thus, I have to draw them on everyday. Sure, my eyebrows are #onpoint or #onfleek when drawn on, but I always run the fear of smearing them with the inevitable and natural sweat. It can be very tiring.

Next comes my #1 enemy: "ugly" acne. Boy, have I talked about you a lot on this blog. I had adolescent acne, and I guess it graduated to adult acne now. This "ugly" feature bothered me the most because the way in which it is being mocked is just cruel. You cannot wash acne off your face like the way you wash dots drawn with markers off your face. The exaggerated drawings fail to highlight the texture and pain of acne (I'm looking at you, cystic acne!). Acne has such a negative stigma that I have been perceived as being "dirty" and "disgusting." Little did you know, I wash my face twice at one setting and occasionally exfoliate it too. Washing my face is actually an art form as I need to wash off all of the products without irritating the acne. It can be very tiring.

Last, but not least, I wear prescription glasses. No, I do not wear it as a fashion statement. I was prescribed with glasses during my freshman year of high school (Wow, high school kind of sucked.). At first, it was kind of cool: hello new accessory, but it didn't take long for generic name-calling of "four-eyes" to surface. It definitely did not help my stereotype of being a quiet Asian nerd. I hate the negative connotations that come with wearing glasses so much that I go blind sometimes just to avoid judgment. It can be very tiring.

As a wannabe fashion blogger, I feel obligated to look my best at all times. It can be very tiring. I didn't know that a "perfect" face was part of the description. I guess it gives me credibility or something. Before taking pictures for any post, I make sure that I have a "full face" on with layers of concealer and foundation that hide the redness and bumps. I also make sure that my eyebrows are done with the infamous pointy ends. Sure, I get positive feedback about my "beauty." However, no matter how many eye-heart emojis I get, I don't find the compliments genuine. That is because the face that is being complimented on is not genuine.

Recently, this poor guy fed me compliments and I couldn't help but rebuttal with negative contradictions. The only thing that was going through my head was that he wouldn't feel that way if I brought my face wipes and cleaned it all off. (Wow, it took me this post to realize that I am the one who's judging myself and not him.)

I came across Em Ford's #youlookdisgusting video (@mypaleskinblog) and was inspired to strip off all of my makeup to do the #dontjudgechallenge the way in which it should have been done.

Collaboration + Review: 2nd Love Cosmetics

Hello my loves! First of all, I would like to apologize for hyping this post on my social media platforms and not following through due to technical difficulties. I have a strong love-hate relationship with the digital world, and unfortunately, this blog depends on it. For that reason, I made sure this post was worth waiting for by putting my whole heart into it. I hope this post helps you in deciding whether or not you would like to give 2nd Love Cosmetics a try!

Before I give y'all the goods, the bads, and hopefully the lovelies, I wanted to thank Joshua from 2nd Love Cosmetics for reaching out to me and asking me whether or not I wanted to review their products. I am still in awe of this opportunity given that I do not consider myself as a make-up artist of any sort. Keep in mind, I'm the type of girl who cringes at the thought of wearing eyeliner (which explains the poor eyeliner job in the following pictures). After using 2nd Love Cosmetics' products religiously for the last few days, I can confidently say that I will make a future purchase as I adore their products. I love finding and trying new up-and-coming brands because I like to think that they share the same drive and passion as my little 'ol blog.

Even though all of the products that I received are complimentary for a review, my opinions are completely honest.

Let's get up-close and personal. I usually don't do a full face, but to really test out the products, I wanted to see how harmonious they are with my current holy grails. For background purposes, I will run down my routine for y'all: I started with Urban Decay's All Nighter Setting Spray to prevent my make-up from melting off my face. Then, I placed a rather generous amount of Cover FX's Blemish Concealer to lessen the red pigmentation from my acne. Next, I covered my face with Urban Decay's Naked Skin Foundation in the shade of 4.0. Using the lovely Real Technique's Expert Face Brush, I blended and buffed out the face products. Depending on how my face feels that day (oily vs. dry), I would usually lock in the products with Rimmel London's Stay Matte Press Powder.

After my face is complete, I would go in and attack my eyebrows. Side note: I am still working on my eyebrows tutorial! I am beyond late with the tutorial, and that's because I'm trying to do a video recording of it. Given my lack of experience and equipments, it is much harder than I expected, but I really want to post a tutorial of quality, so please don't give up on me just yet! Anywho, this little blurb is kind of a tutorial, so give this a try if you are feeling ambitious! For eyebrows, my go-to product is the NYX's Micro Brow Pencil; I use it to draw in my eyebrow shape in preparation of the eyebrow powder and wax/cream.

I have been using ELF's Eyebrow Kit in Light and Medium religiously, so I was really excited to try a new product for a change. As pictured above, I was given the "eyebrow compact-this compact contains 2 powders, 1 brow cream and a dual ended applicator to create perfect brow color. Available in 3 colors: light, medium and dark." I was given the compact in medium, and the colors are right on. As you can see, I was too excited to take a picture of the compact before use. I couldn't help but compare this compact with the ELF's Eyebrow Kit. My favorite thing about this kit has to be the pigmentation of the powders and cream; a little bit of the product definitely goes a long way. I strongly suggest using a little bit of this product as it may result in fall-out if a lot of product is used. Surprisingly, I really like the powders of this compact compared to ELF's Eyebrow Kit; I don't even use the powder in the Eyebrow Kit. The only con of this compact is the size of the dual ended applicator. Personally, I think the brush is way too big, especially because I like the ends of my eyebrows to be sharp and pointy. For application, I patted on the powder on top of the eyebrow shape that I drew in with the Micro Brow Pencil. Then,  I sealed it in with the cream and cleaned it up with foundation using an angle brush.

After eyebrows, I had a little too much fun with eyeshadow. I don't wear eyeshadow on a daily basis because 95% of the time, I have no idea what I'm doing, and remaining 5% is used to blend the harsh lines between colors to my heart's content. I used both Urban Decay's Ammo Eyeshadow and The Balm's ShadyLady vol. 2 Eyeshadow palettes. Then, I used Wet N Wild's white eyeliner pencil in the inner corners of my eyes as part of my eye make-up routine. Next, I applied Almay's liquid eyeliner, which I am not in love with. I am definitely in the market for a better eyeliner, so if you have any suggestions, then please comment below. Your girl really needs her wings to fly.

Last, but not least, I ended my eye make-up routine with my favorite step of mascara. I like this step because I know what I'm doing here. I used Shiseido's Eyelash Curler, and then I went in with "rose mascara- the long brush works to separate lashes, as well as add volume and length to your lashes. Apply one layer for a romantic look, and additional layers for dramatic eyes." I added two layers for a dramatic look, and I thought it looked pretty good. Although it did lengthened my lashes, it didn't mimic falsies. Also, I wished the wand was curved like most wands in order to reach the lashes near the corners of my eyes.

Okay, now that I am finally done with my eyes, I can move on to the rest of my face! This explains why I don't do a full face often; it takes a lot of time and effort. Kudos to all of the make-up artists out there; make-up is definitely a form of art. Anywho, next, I moved onto "contouring," and I put that term in quotation marks because this my form of contouring. Given that my face is acne-prone, I don't like putting emphasis to the sides of my face where the acne lies, but I still want to give my face some sort of dimension. For that reason, I fell in love with this "Glow N' Bronzer in Warmth. 2nd Love Baked Powders are a collection of soft, sheer powders that provide intense color and flawless coverage. Our powders are made with a special formula containing a high content of pearl powder, our collection of powders has intense color payoff and a high shine finish. Baked powders can be used dry or wet with a brush or sponge applicator and are long wearing compared to traditional pressed powder products." I used this product dry with a brush, and unlike their claim of intense color payoff, I thought it was just the right amount of color payoff: not too much and not too little. I don't wear bronzer often because the colors are usually a little too bold and dramatic for my cuppa tea, but this product gives a nice, natural shine. I especially like the lightest shade of the product as I used it as a highlighter. I see myself wearing this every day, so I will definitely make another purchase of this bronzer soon.

Similarly to bronzer, I didn't expect myself to like the "Quick Stick Cream Blush in Bashful" so much. It is a "roll up stick blush that has a creamy texture. Unlike your usual powder blush, cream blushes can be applied and blended into the skin with a more luminous finish. Available in 6 rosy shades." I don't use powder blushes to begin with because again, I don't like to bring attention to my acne that is prevalent on my cheeks. Surprisingly, this cream blush looks super natural on my skin, so I am able to achieve a really tasteful rosy cheek look with this product. Also, it is extremely easy to blend out, and for that reason, I've been wearing it every day since I got it. I'm definitely buying this product again, and I would love to try out the other shades.

We are at the home stretch, guys! Can you imagine how long it takes me to actually put on all of these products?! The last step to my make-up routine is all about my lips, which happens to be my all-time favorite step. I applied the "Signature Lipstick in Dusty Rose" followed by "Pout Plumping Lip Gloss in Coralina." The Signature Lipstick " is a moisturizing lipstick enriched with Vitamin E and Jojoba oils. These lipsticks provide a creamy, long lasting, velvety smooth finish in all shades." Pout Plumping Lip Gloss "is a sheer lip gloss that smoothes out the lips and gives high moisture. It has a minty feel that helps to plump the lips slightly but is not overpowering. TIP: Wear it alone for a high shine and slight tint of color or wear it on top of your favorite lipstick for an extra shine Pout Plumping Lip Gloss comes in 6 luscious shades." I applied the lip gloss directly on top of the lipstick, and I love the combination of these two shades together. I am usually attracted to bright, bold red shades, but I really like this natural pink shade as it would go with any outfit. Both of the products are extremely moisturizing upon initial application. I believe this is due to the incorporation of Jojoba oils, which I absolutely love. (TIP: mix in a few drops of Jojoba oil in your moisturizer for extra moisturizing power; you can thank me later. :P) The lipstick, however, dries up like a matte lipstick after a long period. Depending on your preferences, that can either be a pro or con, but in my case, it's a definite pro because I like matte lipstick.

Through this experience and opportunity, I learned not to judge a book by its cover. I definitely did not expect to like this company's products as much as I do. Of course, there were elements that I didn't like so much, but overall, I was quite impressed. I hope y'all give 2nd Love Cosmetics a chance and let me know what you think!

For funsies, I paired up my full-face with Tobi's sparkly gold A-line dress with a criss-cross back that I got for $15 (I'll do a review of Tobi's products very soon!) and Steve Madden nude heels that I got from thredUP for $21.

My photoshoots are never complete without this pose...so until next time, peace out, loves!

How I Wear It + Review: CampusVoxBox via Influenster

Before I start this review of the good, the bad, and the ugly, I wanted to thank Influenster for giving me this opportunity. I always wanted to receive a VoxBox, and the "campus" edition was right up my alley! Not only are the items keeping me looking and feeling good through out the quarter, but they are also prepping me for summer (school). Haaaa.

Although I received the product free for testing purposes, I am going to be brutally honest with my reviews.

JERGENS Natural Glow Instant Sun Sunless Tanning Mousse: $12.99
This was the big ticket item out of the CampusVoxBox, and unfortunately, I won't be able to milk it out as much as I would like to. I'm naturally dark-skinned, so the last thing I need is a tan. However, I gave this product a try on my inner forearm where my skin is relatively light. From that bit of exposure, I can confidently say that it works. One layer of this product will give you a nice sun-kissed glow that mimics a natural tan. The color is definitely not orange, so it's safe! Oh, also, the product has an odd chemical smell; I am sure that other tanning products smell like this too, but it's not my cuppa tea. With that being said, I would hate to see this product go to waste, so if you are at all interested in giving this product a go, then let me know! Tell me why you deserve it, and it's yours! I would like a review from you in exchange.

St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub: $3.99-$4.49
My my, Influester, you have impeccable timing because I just finished my third tube! I love this stuff; it smells amazing (I'm a huge apricot/peach fan, so I may be biased.) and it works wonders as an exfoliator. I have mild to severe acne, so I don't see much of a difference with my blemishes when using this product, but I have heard of great success stories from those with light acne. It's definitely worth the try, and if anything, it leaves your skin feeling silky smooth. The directions allow everyday use, but I use it every other day just because my skin gets irritated easily.

L'Oreal PARIS Advanced Straight System: Shampoo and Conditioner-$4.99 each, Treatments-$6.99
It's such a shame that I have naturally straight hair because I wanted to see if this system works. The system has three steps: shampoo, pre-condition, and condition. The only thing that I can say about this product is that it smells amazing.

Softlips Cube: $3.49
I was most excited about this item out of my CampusVoxBox. I am a huge Softlips fangirl, and I used to collect all of their lip balms because they smell so good. This new design reminds me of EOS lip balm, but I prefer Softlips' version a lot more. Honestly, I never understood the hype of EOS lip balm. The Softlips Cube has a super smooth texture; it's hydration, and it glosses! How cool is that?! I typically wear this underneath my layer of lipstick, so my lips don't look too chapped. The only thing that I don't like about this product is the particular flavor that I got. I got this product in "Fresh Mint" and it reminds me too much of floss and toothpaste. I would repurchase this in a heartbeat, but in a fruity flavor like Pomegranate Blueberry or Strawberry instead.

SOUR PUNCH Rainbow Straws: $1.29-$1.59
Please tell me that you have tried this product before. If not, then you must try it! This product is actually my go-to candy because it has a nice balance between sweet and sour. My favorite way of eating this is to eat two straws at a time to create a "new" flavor. It's like a party in my mouth! Hehe.

SOUR PUNCH PUNCHIES: $0.89-$1.29
This product is a bit new to me, but it's very similar to the Rainbow Straws. It has the same flavors as the other product, but the experience is different. It goes from sweet to sour, unlike the Rainbow Straws where it all happens at once. You literally cannot go wrong with either one.

Alrighty, I hope this review helped you in making or not making a future purchase! Feel free to ask me any specific questions about the products that I mentioned because that's why I am here!
