Hello, my loves! It has been awhile since I have done a VoxBox review from Influenster, but I am very excited to share this one because I typically do not use drugstore makeup. My skin is very sensitive, so I have to be extra careful about what I use. Regardless, I love trying new products, so a review is my excuse to do so.
This VoxBox totally spoke to me because I absolutely adore eye makeup, even though I am horrible at it. I love how dramatic the differences are between my face with and without eye makeup. I easily change my day to night look with eye makeup.
For this post, I attempted a soft cut crease look. I still have a lot to learn (obvi), but I was pretty proud of myself with this first attempt. First thing first, I primed my eyelids with Smashbox's 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer. A bit of that bad boy went a long way. Next, I applied L'Oreal's 207 Pain Au Chocolat eyeshadow along my crease with a blending brush. I thought the shade was brown, but it came out more like a shimmery silver instead. After blending the eyeshadow, I traced L'Oreal's Infallible Never Fail Eyeliner along my crease to define it further for a cut crease look. I also used the blending brush to create some transition between the eyeshadow and eyeliner. After doing so, I applied CoverFX's concealer on my eyelids as my base for L'Oreal's 200 Paris Beach eyeshadow, which is a pretty matte cream shade. To compliment the cut crease look, I drew small wings with Kat Von D's Tattoo Liner.
I thought the eyeshadows were decent for what they are worth. I personally prefer L'Oreal's 200 Paris Beach over 207 Pain Au Chocolate; the matte shade is a lot more pigmented. I had to build up 207 Pain Au Chocolate along my crease for the same amount of color payoff. I also thought the eyeliner worked well for the way I used it, but I wouldn't use it in place of my liquid eyeliner.
Next, I moved onto my eyebrows. I outlined them with NYX's Microbrow Pencil in Taupe. Then, I filled them in with L'Oreal's Brow Stylist Prep & Shape Pro Kit in Light to Medium. I loved the addition of the angled & spoolie brush and tweezers. I wanted to love this product so badly, but the product was not as pigmented as I would have liked it to be. Typically, I opt out of the setting powder and stick with the soft wax, but I had to use both products for this look. Even then, I had to build up the products. I think this kit would be great for those who already have full brows and need a bit of filling. For those who are like me with very sparse brows with missing patches, I would recommend ELF's Eyebrow Kit (which I have been using for years).
Last but not least, I curled my lashes with Shiseido's Eyelash Curler. Next, I applied L'Oreal's Voluminous Primer/Base followed by Original mascara. It is unfortunate that the pictures do not do the products justice because my lashes did appear to be fuller. However, it also looked clumpy. I had to remind myself that I did not need to apply a lot of product. In addition to volume, I thought the two products lengthened the appearance of my lashes. In comparison to my other mascaras, the combination of these two was not my favorite, but I still think they are worth trying. Some products work better on some people than others.
